PANSY FAREWELL

Well, now it is the end of June, and my brave beautiful Pansies are leaving me. The last of Spring, the soft days so welcome after the cold days and nights of Winter. Spring must give way to Summer, that is the way of the World.
The lovely Pansies have cheerfully, obligingly bloomed their prettiest , so that I may have beauty in my garden. To bring me joy, to give me solace. With their delicacy and shy demeaner
brighten my day. But, now 'tis the end of June, I thank them and let them go , to where ever Pansy heaven lies.

TIME AND TIDE ETC.

Time goes in a speeding haze
Lost forever are those days.
No way to go back and claim.
Never to return and gain.
Things not said. Things not done.
The heart lies aching in one's breast.
Makes it difficult to take a breath.
Shades, shadows of lost dreams,
and love, are all that's left
Leaves the soul bare and bereft.

MID-SOMMER

You know, I have never been in a position to do the Mid-Sommer thing. No one out here dosen't even know about such things. (This is pre-hippie) I have kept a diary since 1967, and no where do I even mention it in passing. I guess the people I was with weren't so, I didn't. I do believe the Scandinavian people did however. But, the celebration just never trans-migrated through the general population. Way too pagan perhaps. Too bad really.
Here is my paeon to it this year. Only in pictures, no words. I also have made a decorated page in my journal.

BIG BOOKCASE

This is a snap of what is behind my chair.
The case holds most of my doll and
costume books. I always wanted my own library.
But, now with internet, I do. Superlative. So,
I have sold off a great many of my books.
Fewer to dust that way too.
However. I do keep all of my fiction
and non-fiction books upstairs.
Since I don't have to reference them.
I have 6 or 7 bookcases up there.
One in the main room. And the three in this room.

SITTING AREA

This is where I spend most of my days. When we moved here, This was the front bedroom, however, I decided to use it as our tv/sitting room. And my retreat room. From my chair to the right is a clear veiw of the patio. And such garden as we have. This is also, my main dollroom. But, I do have dolls displayed in all parts of the house. It' is not really a 'house', it is one third of a tri-plex.

This where I read, where I watch tv. and just in front of that chair is the chair I use when I am at my computer. For some reason, I find it difficult to do any needle or craft work in this room.

So, I have set up a place at my craft table in what is really the main living area.

So, I thought I would share my area.

This my chair and what I'm reading right now. A selection of books and specialty magazines.

WEATHER AND WHATEVER

The weather was changing back and forth this week and so, I have been bothered by my GIT again. Finally the weather settled in high. (90's) I do not thrive in anything over 78 degrees. Tomorrow is to be in the 90's again. But, the fog is expected by evening.
The heat just destroys my flowers.
The pansies have been hanging in there. Maybe because I have been picking the old ones off everyday. The roses have favored us with a few blooms. The big soft pink QEll has three lovely blooms. Hb. planted pansies with the roses, makes a nice contrast.
Had a headache yesterday. Don't know why. It went away rather quickly and didn't return.
Traced an E.F.Ackley doll onto a piece of nice muslin. I began sewing it a couple of weeks ago. However, I finished stitching it yesterday. In backstitch, all by hand. The doll will be about 9 1/2 " tall. I also began to stuff. It has been awhile since I have stuffed on a slender limbed doll. So, I had to retrain myself how, so as not to make her all lumpy. I have no idea what or who she shall out to be. This is one of those dolls that determines how she turns out.
I'm just happy to be creating something at all. My poor little gray horse still has her mane pinned in place, but, I lost momentum and haven't been able to get back to her. Shame on me. I think I ought to have chosen a better color.

Rather than making something new, I should go back and try to finish some my orphans.
The doll on the right is a very special doll, I will write about later.

SUNDAY REFLECTIONS

I have been having a lot of dental work. Too much. My dentist believes it to be due to some of my medications.
Tried to get involved with a project to keep myself occupied. Starting another book of drawings.
Trouble is, I can't find an inpiration for a theme. I am just doodling around. Flowers, dolls, costume ideas, and some animals. I am using only regular pencil. So, I am able to erase if I do not care for a specific drawing. When I like something, then I go over it in ink.
On eBay, I found a seller who was selling some of the moleskine art books. Came as a set of three for $15.00. Nice price. They are soft cover in a plain brown craft paper cover and only 120 pages. Perfect. I am not using those yet. But they would be great for altered book or collage art.
The Art Book I am working on, is a sketch book it has white paper and a black hardcover. I used to doodle, draw and sketch all the time. I need to go out in the world a bit and get some stimulation.
Besides my personal journal. I am also drawing in two other books. My journal is more what I should ought to have been doing. More drawing, and illustrations.
I do not really do altered art. Although, I have made some small collage pieces directly in my journal to illustrate the topic.
I will scan in a page and add it to my blog later.

TRAFFIC

The night is dark,
the night is deep,
all around
half the world's asleep.
Through the pines
a small breeze rustles
as through
the trembling trees
it hustles.
The night oft
sedeuces me.
casts me into a
pensive mood.
I then may
listen to the sounds
of the world as
it spins round.
I hear whispers
of other minds
although, they are asleep.]
I listen and find,
a whisp,
a whisper,
a wish of the heart.
Because when they wake
all is left behind.
They waken all bemused,
Drink thier coffee,
read the news.
Forgotten
the wishes of the heart.
And off to work
they then depart.

JUNE, IS ALSO ROSES

Roses are the flower the month

for June. However, by June all of

my roses have finished blooming and

there will be no more until next Spring.

That seems to be par for the course

here in this neighberhood. Not enough

Of the right kind of sun. And all of the modern roses

are supposed to be remontant bloomers.

Out in other neighberhoods the roses do much better.

Too many trees here. Too much competition.

Here is a grandeflora trying it's best.

There are ten flowers altogether. Two
of the buds are in the back out of the picture.

The weather has roughed up them a little.

JABBERWOCKY

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
all mimsy were the borogoves
and the momraths outgrabe.
--------------------------------
This is the first verse of a nonsense poem by Lewis Carroll.
I used to recite it to amuse my younger brother. Or, so I thought.
Finally one day after he was an adult this subject came up.
And he told me all that time it gave him nightmares because it was so scarey.
I said, " well, why didn't you say something?. Besides it is just a poem about bravery."
He said, " he hadn't wanted to dissapoint me. "
Oh for heaven's sake!
I tried it out on his two boys. They just thought it was silly, and they hadn't a clue as to what it meant. I didn't enlighten them on it.
----------------------------------------------------
Isn't that one of the silliest things you ever heard?
